We are Raising the Woof! Please pardon our dust as construction continues. Certain entrances will be closed during construction and signage will direct you to alternative doors. If you have visited or driven by the Humane Society of Boulder Valley in the last few weeks you have no doubt noticed the construction that has begun on the second floor of our building. The project underway is our new Training and Behavior Center which will open in March of 2007. This new space will house all of the training and behavioral rehabilitation programs and will greatly enhance the resources available to both those animals in our care as well as the community and their pets. In bringing our Training and Behavior Center on site, we aim to decrease the number of animals euthanized due to behavior issues, increase the training available to guardians and their pets, enhance our rehabilitation programs for both cats and dogs, increase training skills of our staff and volunteers working with our shelter animals and improve the human animal bond shared between pets and people. For those animals who have been given up by their guardian, we have created behavior rehabilitation programs to address the very behaviors that brought them to the shelter. Rehabilitation programs can give these animals the second chance they deserve to find a loving home. Our current training and behavioral rehabilitation programs have seen great success and increased demand. Through affordable training and education classes we have given thousands of pets and their guardians the tools they need to form a healthy bond. These programs help prevent the relinquishment of these pets for behavior issues. This is a very exciting project that will be the cornerstone of our rehabilitation services.
