A Roadside Rescue

At first the driver thought she saw a rag on the side of the road. But when the rag moved she decided to stop and take a look.

What they found was horrible. The rag was actually a small white puppy covered in filth, with ticks and burns on his footpads from the scalding hot pavement.  She scooped him up, returned home to Boulder and brought the puppy to where she knew he would receive the best of care, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.

There the Shibu Inu puppy was treated for parasites, malnourishment and tender, blistered feet. Then he was placed into a foster home so he could recuperate.  Tucker, as his foster family came to call him, slept a lot while he healed and caught up with his eating - growing into a healthy, happy butterball of a puppy.

Once he gained enough weight, he was neutered in our Veterinary Clinic and then put up for adoption.  Today Tucker has a new loving family and his horrible beginning is forgotten. But we’re sure he will never forget the kindness of his roadside rescuer.
