Puttin' on the Leash Paddle Raiser Makes the Difference in Animal's Lives. We look forward to having you join us for Puttin’ on the Leash 2007 – A Pet Odyssey on April 21! This year our Paddle Raiser will help raise much needed funds to support our transfer program. This program allows us to to take animals from organizations in Colorado, neighboring states and Mexico. Last year, animals were transferred in from nine states and Mexico. These shelters rely on us to accept animals from their overcrowded facilities. Our staff and volunteers dedicate time and resources to help these animals find homes. Animals that, without this program, face an uncertain future. Last year alone, 84 organizations transferred 2,252 animals to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. In 2006, donations from
Paddle Raiser provided direct services for our animal rehabilitation
and enrichment programs! With over 40% of the animals
we serve needing some sort of medical or behavioral attention, these
funds ensured we could meet this need and successfully rehabilitate
thousands of homeless pets. The Paddle Raiser also supports our behavioral rehabilitation and enrichment programs with pro-active behavior modification and stress reduction efforts for animals identified by our staff. We help these animals become or remain adoption candidates with behavior modification techniques and engaging activities. Volunteers and staff use therapeutic strategies via exercise, socialization and behavior modification to manage a program to address the special virtues and unique challenges of each individual animal.
